"We go where no man has gone before!"

History of Barmbrac/Clootie Dumpling
Drew McCabe of Clootie Dumpling is an ex-pat
Glaswegian living in Hershey, PA. Following a
second career in the travelbusiness, he sensed a
need to provide a service for travelers to
Scotland that would go beyond what was available,
and conduct his own, very intimate tours based on
what his clients reallywanted, rather than an
'off-the-shelf' product. He has been doing this
very successfully in the Scottish market.
I, Bob Turkington, met Drew on a Visitscotland
FAM trip in Scotland and found we had a lot in
common, as well as having been headed in the
same direction with our travel businesses.
Drew had been wanting to be able to offer tours
in Ireland as well as Scotland, but didn't want to
be overstretched. My extraknowledge of Ireland
fitted right in! I loved the name of his company and
just had to follow his lead...hence Barmbrac was born.
(You can see my credentials elsewhere on this website)
Though we specialize in Scotland and Ireland, we are
also familiar with England and Wales, so we can
cover these as well.

How we work
Following a request, we set up an intensive dialogue with
you to determine exactly what you want out of your trip.
This, initial, consultation is completely free and carries no
obligation. When we are sure we want to work together,
we ask for a deposit that will be applied to any booking you
make. This is non-refundable to cover our costs in the
'R&D' phase. We ask for $220 per trip (not per person).
We then go to work to find the best options based on your
requests and present our findings for your perusal.
When we have reached the point of having a 'perfect plan'
we will put it all together and take it from there.
(As both Drew and I have other income sources, our profit
margins are very reasonable. We will also try to work
things out that we do a couple these tours 'back-to-back'
to keep our costs to a minimum. We want to serve
you...not fleece you! We are both passionate about these
lands of our birth and want to share our passion with you.)
Give us a call/send us an email.

Suggestions/Examples/Ideas for Tours
Say you have a group of 6-8 friends/colleagues who want a
different Irish experience. Maybe your company wants to
take their executives for an incentive or R&R trip
that is more than just 'sun & fun'. Perhaps you
have a special interest group. We can design a trip of
whatever length, and to suit your needs.
E.G. If you want to see the castles, cliffs and scenery of
the West of Ireland and visit the North Antrim area where
the Giants Causeway and Bushmills Distillery are,
we could arrange a two base trip (where you
wouldn't have to be packing and unpacking every
day) and do day-trips from these bases. By
renting cottages we can save significantly on accommodation
and I will do some of the cooking, etc. (I'm a
reasonable cook, by the way!)
The possibilities are limited only by your/our imaginations.
