As far as BRITcanada.com
is concerned...
YOU are the SPECIAL!
Other Specials -
keep scrolling down the page :-)
Please note that Britcanada.com is not a
'specials' type company. We do have some good deals
to pass on, however. They are specials that are mostly
relevant to our specialty of travel to UK and Ireland.
The big focus at the moment is, of course, Homecoming
Scotland 09. Apart from our exclusive tour, a number
of companies are promoting various tours in Scotland
throughout the year. As I sifted through these, I was
quite impressed by one company in particular. They
have really put a lot of work into designing tours that
are 'one-off' for the Homecoming and not just their
regular tours with the names changed. They are offering
tours specific to particular clans, for example. They
have also done some specialty things like Whisky Tours,
golf tours, etc. that are connected to Homecoming 09
events. To describe them
all here would take much time
and effort. If you are interested in knowing more about
them please call or email me.
I will give you one example.... CLAN
CAMPBELL
This tour explores the ancestral lands of this mighty clan
who gained power, land and title gifted by the King. The
Campbells were staunch supporters of Bruce, and indeed
descendants of Duncan Campbell can claim their lineage
back to our hero King. The journey is packed with history
and castles, demonstrating the sheer power of one of the
most notorious of our Highland clans - the Clan Campbell. Package Details

Day 7 - Free day in
Edinburgh with optional day trips.
Day 8 - The Gathering events.
Day 9 - The Gathering
events.
Day 10 - Depart for home.
Each day's itinerary is described and they are impressive
as well as being very relevant to the clan. The tour takes
you to Stirling, Bannockburn, Castle Campbell near
Dollar, Loch Dochart (pasing Dochart Castle), Dalmally,
Kilchurn Castle, Loch Awe, Inverary, Kilmartin Glen,
Oban, Appin and Glencoe, Fort William, Loch Ness,
Inverness,Culloden, Killiecrankie, Loch Tummel,
Kenmore, Aberfeldy, Dunkeld and back to Edinburgh.
All the way you will be informed by a guide with
knowledge of the clan.
As you can see, this company has done its homework!
Ireland
is 'hot' right now! The Irish tourism industry
received a heap of money over the past few years and
it was largely spent on expanding the 'capacity' of its
tourist facilities. With the exchange rate of the Euro
against the British pound rising rapidly, Ireland is
getting fewer UK visitors than it has for some time.
The Homecoming Scotland 2009 programme is taking
away from the Irish market, too. They are getting
anxious at the moment about the upcoming season.
This is resulting in some really good deals, especially
targeting the N.American market. The downside is that
your $ doesn't buy as many Euros as it did a few months
ago. This is quite different from the situation with UK.
There, we find that our $ is now buying a lot more
pounds than it did. What does this mean to us?
Well, if you don't intend
to spend much over there...taking an escorted tour, for
example, Ireland is the best value. Conversely, if you
have to get any 'extras' like car rentals, B&B's, etc., or
intend to 'live it up' and shop 'til you drop, UK is the
better value.
At least three Irish tour companies, that I regularly
receive emails from, are almost bombarding me with
new tours, programmes and offers.
Give me a call or send me an email if you want to
know more. More, please.

I'm just back from 2 weeks in UK. One week was
with VisitScotland and the second week I rented a car
in Glasgow and drove down through England for my
return flight from London, Gatwick. At VisitScotland's
EXPO travel trade show I met with a number of
suppliers of travel product.
They are very keen to have us North Americans over
there and there are good deals to be had right now with
the advantageous exchange rates. Stay posted for
other specials.
